Cirqua Apartments - Great Architecture The Cirqua Apartments located in Melbourne is a multiresidential project designed to give an impression of a large single residence. By considering its building envelope as well as utilising large porthole windows, the architects fit the structure into its surrounding environment, smoothly integrating the design into the street rhythm. The highly articulated facade composed of dark brown bricks refers to the local, historical housing types, yet representing the exterior in a contemporary form. Inspired by the traditional Japanese window marumado, the architects decorated the building with large round openings, allowing adequate natural light and ventilation while maintaining privacy through lifting the apartments above ground level. The generous application of glazing also maximises the connection with the surrounding garden and streetscape, enhancing the sense of connection between the architecture and its atmosphere. Villa...
