Hero and Detail Shots My selected Hero shot: My selected Detail shot: The Hero shot I selected shows the structural idea of my building and its relationship with the surrounding environment. Located near the mountain side, the three storey architecture protrudes out from the mountain, elevated above the lake, yet is closely related to both. The picture depicts a scene during low tide, while during a high tide, the basement will be submerged under water. (Low tide was chosen for clarity of basement) The Detail shot I selected describes an interior scene taken from the ground floor, which showcases the arrangement and positioning of the levels. The stair connecting the ground and first levels creates continuous curves in the interior allowing the style to be consistent throughout the building.

Original Section Sketch The final design was inspired by the original sketch, only some elements from the sketch were involved. The general ideas and details were reconsidered. Meanwhile, the building still conveys the themes of both above and below, which are Embrace (Above) and Glide (Below). SketchUp Model Perspective First Floor Basement Materials The textures were rendered on the floors of each level and a part of the wall on basement. The top floor texture "Elastic" resonates with the curves created by the "tongues"; The ground floor texture "Muddy" reviews the landscaping context of the architecture, which is a mixture of mountains and lake; The basement texture "Rusty" is most appropriate for the products of Auto Fabrica, as the texture explores a metallic, degage nature. Stairs Above the datum - Embrace The stair is composed of round glass rings that offset each other by a small distance, constructing a curved staircase. The two ends of the stair are open enabling people to access the stair from the floors. LED light rings are attached between stairs, creating a soft glow within the tube due to the reflective property of glass. Below the datum - Accelerate The stair challenge the original idea of a stair through the trajectory it creates. A stainless steel motorcycle representation is embedded, contrasting with the rusted hollow stairs. A water curtain is placed parallel to the wall, separating the stairs from other parts of the space. Stripped lights are inserted at the bottom of the water to create a sense of moment.
